Project Size

You will be assigned to one or more project depending on the size.

Essential Functions

  1. Assist Project Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators and our field team on site.
  2. Conduct safety audits, prepare safety meetings and participate in different safety programs in the company
  3. Read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  4. Work with Project Engineers on submittals and RFI logs
  5. Prepare emails, memos, letters to city officials, subcontractors and other vendors
  6. Assist with coordinating subcontractors, vendors, field staff
  7. Assist with all project documentation
  8. Assist with estimating tasks
  9. Solicit bids from subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned

Summary/Objective

The Superintendent is the project lead for all field activities on their assigned project. Responsible for maintaining a safe and organized construction site.

Project Size

The Superintendent will manage single projects up to $15 million in value.

Essential Functions

  1. Maintain a safe working construction site.
  2. Coordination of subcontractors, material/equipment delivery, and all inspections.
  3. If managing multiple projects, support Site Superintendents throughout duration of their projects.
  4. Develop, implement and update project schedule.
  5. Issues 3 week look ahead schedules at weekly subcontractor meetings.
  6. Performs toolbox talks and/or other safety meetings in accordance with site specific safety plan and GIS corporate safety policy.
  7. When opening and closing job sites, makes sure the job site is securely locked.
  8. Reviews and understands subcontractors’ scopes.
  9. Oversees that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of
  10. Identifies, documents, and addresses project field issues.
  11. Works with project engineer, or manager to create RFI’s, including recommended solutions.
  12. Participates in QA/QC management. Including insuring project work quality is up to GIS standards.
  13. Provides guidance and support remedies to insure successful inspections with local
  14. Develops action plans to address project
  15. Intervenes if subcontractor is non-compliant with safety, health, and environmental quality
  16. Maintains a written daily log of activities on the
  17. Ensures that the job sites are always kept in a clean and organized
  18. Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company
  19. Keeps upper management fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt action where necessary or suggests alternative course of action, which may be

  1. Creates and manages project schedules and budgets.
  2. Responsible for project budget by accurately estimating and forecasting.
  3. Schedules, directs and supervises all superintendents and their staff.
  4. In the absence of a site superintendent on the job, assumes their role in addition to his primary responsibilities.
  5. Oversees daily activities of staff, documentation, construction software by delegating, managing, overseeing and organizing.
  6. Responsible for maintaining client, subcontractor and project consultants and vendors relationships.
  7. Responsible for project compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
  8. Interprets and explains plans and contract terms to staff, workers, clients and their representatives, vendors, owners and developers.
  9. Prepares contracts and negotiates revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  10. Obtains all necessary and proper permits and licenses that fall in the scope of the Company.
  11. Enacts contingency plans as needed; escalates and directs activities during problems, disasters, etc.: identifies potential problems, rectifies, escalates issues to upper management and participates in post-mortem analysis of problems providing input for future process improvements.
