Two years ago, we lost everything…
I rarely share this story.
But transparency matters:
Our construction company grew to 30 employees with three major projects.
Then suddenly, everything went into foreclosure…
Years of work vanished overnight.
We had to fold the company.
Was it devastating? Absolutely.
Did I question everything? Every day.
But here’s what we learned during the rebuild:
• Relationships outlast assets
• Crisis reveals your true strengths
• Your “Plan B” might become your best path
When business crumbled, family remained my foundation.
They gave me strength to rebuild when everything else was gone.
Today, it’s primarily just my sister, Tanya, and me rebuilding the business.
We’ve pivoted to a model where property owners finance our preliminary work, which has already secured partnerships in Seattle and Idaho.
Is it humbling to start over? Yes.
Is it teaching us to build more sustainably this time? Without question.
Business setbacks don’t define you.
How you respond to them does.
I’m curious: Have you ever had to rebuild something from scratch? What unexpected lessons did you learn?
